This work is your invitation to stop making yourself wrong for wanting more, so you can start listening for what’s next.

I’m Brooke Hofsess – a Midlife Midwife.

For 20 years, I’ve provided creative, supportive spaces for women to grow—through workshops, retreats, higher education, and 1:1 coaching mentorships. I’ve published two books that reimagine mentoring as creative, relational, and emergent.

My academic background as a tenured professor and academic leader (with an MA from Columbia University and a PhD from the University of Georgia) complements my studies in personal development, coaching, somatics, energy work, and women’s leadership.

What that means for you: I meet you exactly where you are and skillfully lead you toward your inner knowing, creativity, and agency. My clients are creative, sensitive women who often spend a lot of time in their heads. I’m experienced at helping them move beyond cognitive solutions into the heart, body, and spirit—because that’s where true breakthroughs emerge and where life begins to feel different.

my second bite.

By the time I recognized my first act wasn’t feeding my soul, I was up to my eyeballs in student loans, high-flying awards, and the flattering rewards that come with a pristine reputation in the academy.

But I wanted less ivory towers and more bonfires in my professional life. I craved warmth, spirited conversation, creativity, and gathering with other women to talk about what truly matters. Even on my best days, the successful life I built felt hollow.

Knowing I needed change and doing something about it, though—those were two different beasts.

So I flirted with change in the margins of my life while keeping my passions close to my chest. I justified my investments in becoming a coach as helping me become a better teacher and mentor in higher education.

Because I was scared to death of blowing up my very beautiful life.

Yet here I am, shamelessly savoring the authentic, juicy nourishment of my second bite. (I would love to help you do the same.)

But I didn’t make it here alone…

My lineage.

Each of my teachers has shaped my way of being, as a coach, leader, and facilitator. When you work with me, you’ll receive the nectar of these incredible guides:

Tara Mohr, thank you for your groundbreaking writing and the way you blend the spiritual with the practical. I’m honored to be a credentialed Playing Big facilitator.

Dr. Brené Brown, thank you for your courage and storytelling, and for the daily impact of my Dare to Lead certification.

Joanna Lindenbaum, thank you for guiding coaches to the sacred depths of their craft. My training as an Advanced-level Applied Depths Practitioner moved me beyond the technique of coaching to find the seasoned mentor within.

Lianne Raymond for your open-hearted wisdom and fierce, loving presence as a mentor, and your teachings within, Cherish: A Field Guide to the Human Heart and through The Hidden Art of Coaching.

Rachel Maddox, thank you for helping me work safely and powerfully with trauma, and Nisha Moodley and Ginny Muir for gathering the RIPE women to awaken midlife’s wise, erotic power. To Bruce Anderson, for showing me the profound power of Core Gift work through your master facilitator preparation.

And thank you to…

… Robin Joy Hilton, for nurturing my business with your keen sense of systems and tech, but also for all the ways you inspire me to create my work from a place of pleasure and calm.

… my life’s partner, Dustin, for holding space for my evolution and for inspiring me with his musicianship.

… And to my daughter, for what she invites me to heal, learn, and grow in myself and this world.

This is the lineage that informs our journey when we work together.

I work, play, and rest on unceded Cherokee, Yuchi, and Moneton traditional lands, currently known as Boone, North Carolina.

My gratitude to photographer Nicole McConville for making the portraits that connect me with you on this site.
